My work has been ongoing for decades! I have always been a grassroots type of candidate, one that listens to the voters, takes the concerns of the constituents to heart, and understands the daily struggles that so many experience.
I started my activism and volunteering in the Kendall Whittier neighborhood, working to establish and bolster up the neighborhood association. Urging the City of Tulsa to conduct a master plan for the area in the early 1990's, setting the groundwork for improvements that are still being implemented and evolving to meet the new needs of the community. Later becoming the President of the Kendall Whittier Neighborhood Association, I have been able to take part in and watch as Kendall Whittier continues to blossom into the vibrant area that some of us knew it could be 30 years ago!
My next calling was to run for City Council, and as the District 4 Councilor I got to see the inner workings of our local government. Gaining knowledge about how our City government works, what aspects of our daily life are considered under the County's control, and how different governing bodies interact and overlap.
Being a Tulsan that has lived in District 2 for 40+ years, I have watched as our city and surroundings have changed and evolved over the years. Knowing the impact that our County Commission can have on our daily lives while wondering what our County Commissioners are doing for us, I see a future with a transparent County Government and equitable representation for everyone in Tulsa County.
